beauty haul - what i got for christmas 2017

January 09, 2018

A little while back I posted my big makeup declutter which went into detail what prompted me to stop living life pretending that I was a beauty guru, spending more money on makeup and hoarding products that will never get used. So I held out on making some very tempting purchases throughout the year, and waited for Santa to ask me for my wishlist of what beauty bits I wanted and boy, did Santa deliver!

Given this is more a haul vibe blog post, I have written about the products I have used in the past and 'repurchased' and then gone on to just list the new products to me, with a few first impressions.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural (Medium) is by far my favourite powder on the planet, it mattifies without leaving your face look flat or one dimensional, and has enough coverage to blur my oversized pores. I was trying to financially savvy and use the Rimmel translucent powder which I did actually hit pan on, but I just felt like it was leaving my face looking too chalky. So #blessed to have this back in my life.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (Pale Almond) is literally my holy grail full coverage foundation, just like it is everyone else's (seriously, my best mates, sister, cousin etc. all swear by it too). I feel like I don't even go into detail of how perfect it is because chances are you've already tried it. It gives the most flawless semi-matte finish to your skin, that covers all blemishes and oversized pores AND has the lasting power like no other. I did have this is a shade far too dark for me (Pebble), so I went to the counter and actually spoke to another human and got colour matched! Pale Almond is the perfect match for me and just for reference, I am NW20 in MAC foundations.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion + is the best find of 2017, just about to run out of my first bottle, so stoked to have another bottle and smaller tube for when I travel. It's  the perfect moisturiser, does the job, not too heavy not too light and you only need 2 small pumps to do your entire face #holygrail.

MAC Eyeshadow (Charcol Brown) I've actually gone ahead and gotten rid of all my other MAC eyeshadow except for Carbon which is a staple matte black, and now have gotten Charcol Brown with the sole purpose of filling in my brows. This duo feels very minimalistic and now I can get rid of the oversized eyebrow palette I have been hauling around with me.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (Exposed) perfect everyday colour. However, it was pretty disappointing when I used it for the first time and the blush pan moved with the brush if that makes sense, as if it hasn't been glued down properly.

Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes keen as a bean to try this out, as I have heard it being raved about on the 'Tubes for literal years.

Feeling SUPER grateful and blessed with the privileged life I have where I am able to have these gorgeous products in my life as well as the for the gorgeous people who gifted them to me. Hope you all had a great festive season and are kicking butt on your new years resolutions.
